Enlighting Children on the History of Aviation
If you search far back in history you will see that man has always had an interest in flying, and the prospect of humans being able to fly seemed fascinating. There have been many people throughout the ages who have attempted to fly, and they have tried all sorts to get man up in the air. In 1783 two brothers from France were successful in creating a fire powered linen balloon, this managed to stay in the air for five miles or more, and this is seen as the first piece of equipment which was able to fly. But it was more than 60 years later in 1843 that a chap called William Henderson came up with the first plans for an airplane which had an engine. It was not long after this and after many experiments that the first plane actually lifted off the ground. If we take a look back in time we can seen just how the aircraft has developed to what it is today. Today thousands of people worldwide set about taking flights to different parts of the world. Whether that be on holiday or on business, travelling by aircraft is seen as the safest way to travel, although some people have an extreme fear of flying. Planes and passenger travel are used by schools in their teaching. Many pupils from schools accompany their parents on holiday each year to sunnier climates, and this usually involves travelling by one of these fine pieces of machinery. Schools also teach about the history of the world wars, where fighter jets were used. The history of Aviation is very interesting and school children are often delighted to hear about Concord and how it was the fastest form of air travel. Unfortunately Concord had to be grounded due to its safety and the fact that some of the aircraft parts were seen as being unsafe.
